What really happened
The attackers blocked the highway and attacked the team bus. The players and staff were forced to leave the bus and flee into the woods.
According to Ghanaian media, several players were injured during the attack. Frimpong was shot in the head.
The 20-year-old striker was rushed to the Bibiani government hospital after the incident. However, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving.
The Ghanaian police are still searching for the armed robbers who are currently on the run.
