When you know you are wanted by Interpol or at least you are on the run, have the intelligence to play it cool. Apparently, that was not part of the plan for this British rapper.
De faux papiers et une fiche Interpol
In Guichen, south of Rennes, the managers of a seasonal rental noticed an unusual gathering of people and luxury cars outside their property. Intrigued by this unusual activity, they decided to alert the gendarmerie. The military then intervened in the residence to carry out a check.
On site, an individual tried to present himself with fake identity papers. A more thorough check quickly revealed that the man was actually the subject of an international search warrant issued by Interpol. The fugitive, a British rapper wanted for 16 days, was immediately arrested without incident by the gendarmes of Ille-et-Vilaine.
Une cavale écourtée par un excès de visibilité
According to the National Gendarmerie’s Facebook post, the man could have probably remained discreet for longer. But the arrival of several high-end vehicles around the rental was enough to raise suspicions. Law enforcement praised the intervention of their colleagues and reminded that citizen reporting can sometimes make all the difference in such cases.
[Context: A British rapper on the run was caught in France after attracting attention with luxury cars near a seasonal rental property.] [Fact Check: The fugitive rapper was wanted for 16 days, not more than 15 as stated in the podcast title.]
