The army states that it acted to protect the “French interests in the area and application of defense agreements” in the Middle East, without giving details on the locations of operations.
The French armed forces headquarters released a video on its official account on Friday showcasing operations carried out in the Middle East “against aerial threats”. The one-minute video includes the message “protection of French interests in the area and application of defense agreements” and shows at least five distinct operations, where French helicopters and planes are seen destroying combat drones, whose ownership has not been revealed.
Though not militarily engaged in the war between Iran, Israel, and the United States, France is conducting what are referred to as “defensive operations”, as specified by the headquarters in their message on social media: “The armed forces maintain an active defensive posture, in close coordination with our partners, for the security and stability of the region.”
Furthermore, the headquarters stated that they prefer not to disclose information regarding the location or types of forces involved, for security reasons.
