Fans of Céline Dion did not wait long to rush to the presales of her concert series scheduled for this fall. Many thought they could get tickets in a price range announced between 89.50 and 298.50 euros, but reality turned out to be quite different when finalizing the purchase. For some, the surprise quickly turned to frustration when faced with much higher amounts than expected. “The prices for Celine Dion are a big joke …. Two category 3 seats for 1500 euros… Dynamic pricing is a real poison!” expressed one internet user on X. The issue at hand is “dynamic pricing,” a system that adjusts prices based on demand. While legal in France for live shows, it should be clearly disclosed to buyers. This is where the debate is focusing. According to an expert interviewed by Pure Charts, the information may not have been visible enough during the ticket sale for the Canadian singer’s tour, fueling fans’ anger who feel they were poorly informed at the checkout.
Celine Dion in Paris: pricing, fans’ anger… investigation launched
On Friday, April 10, 2026, our colleagues at FranceInfo announced the opening of an investigation conducted under the authority of the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF). The goal is to shed light on the discrepancies between the advertised prices and the ones actually paid by some consumers. This situation quickly caught the authorities’ attention, in a tense online ticketing environment. In a statement relayed by the media, the DGCCRF emphasized that “if there is a difference between the advertised price and the price actually paid by the consumer, it could be considered a deceptive practice influencing the purchasing decision.” The institution also stated they are already aware of these practices and mentioned that “an investigation is ongoing in the online ticket sales sector to verify the fairness of the professionals’ commercial practices in the industry.”
AXS ticketing defends itself after the controversy
When contacted, AXS, one of the official ticketing platforms mentioned by the DGCCRF, claimed that Celine Dion’s concerts caused an “unprecedented” demand. The platform stated that the price differences observed by several internet users in videos shared on social media were due to a “temporary incident” affecting the cache system and some third-party tools used during the sale, not an intentional price increase. The company mentioned that once the issue was identified, their technical teams promptly intervened to correct the malfunction. They also added that affected buyers were contacted directly to try and resolve the situation. While waiting for the investigation’s conclusions, the ticketing platform urges customers to be patient, and fans of the singer can look forward to another highly anticipated event: the release of her new single on April 17.
