The association brings together several friends who meet once a year for revisited olympics. The whole thing is filmed and for the first time in three years, the footage has been shown at the cinema in Millau.

At the entrance of the cinema on Saturday, April 4th under a sunny spring day, a gathering of people wearing green sweaters patiently wait for the 2pm screening of “Mexican’s Cup 3”.

These green sweaters are the main characters of the screening and have come to “have fun”. Each of their nicknames is printed on the back.

The association of the Mexicans was officially created three years ago and allows a group of friends born between 2001 and 2004, some of whom have known each other since middle school – except for Thibaud Foulquié from 1996 – to get together once a year while everyone has gone to study or work far from Millau.

“But there is no connection with Mexico other than for the puns we enjoy,” explains Léo Evesque, the president of the association, who works in radiology in Saint-Affrique. “One of us once said they saw Mexicans, but such stupid guys and since then it stuck,” he recalls.

And every Pentecost weekend, the group of friends meets on the Larzac side for revisited Olympics.

“The first time, we filmed some moments just like that, last year we re-filmed to make it a mini-series and this time, it’s a documentary but filming is not the primary goal,” explains Adrien Blanc, studying engineering in Toulouse and working part-time at MJ2 Technologies in La Cavalerie. “We have been coming to the cinema since we were kids and it’s for fun, it’s funny.”

Also an opportunity to invite relatives – because the screening was free – and to share these festive reunion moments differently. Last year, about fifty people gathered at one of the extras’ homes.

This Saturday, just as many people were gathered in the small cinema hall in Millau. It allowed the most loyal ones to wait until the presentation of the next competition.

“The association has 16 members and the competition is organized by two people for 12 participants in addition to the videographer,” details Léo. To expand it more widely? “Too complicated for organization but for the fifth edition, next year, we are considering having each former participant sponsor a team of two,” confides the Mexicans.

Otherwise, it is possible to share their adventures on their social networks and their YouTube channel where you can find their documentary about their last “Mexican’s Cup”.

They finished their weekend in Saint-Rome-de-Tarn, celebrating their screening at the Fête des Cornards. Another type of sport.
