Until now available by subscription, meal kit boxes are coming to supermarkets thanks to Florette, a company specializing in fruits and vegetables from Torreilles.

HelloFresh, Quitoque, Les Commis, and even Comme J’aime have popularized the concept of meal kit boxes among the French, offering meals to be prepared and delivered to homes through subscriptions.

These boxes offer a middle ground between ready-made meals and the joy of cooking at home. Experiencing a significant evolution since late March, Florette, a leading brand in fresh fruits and vegetables ready to be consumed, is entering the market, not with subscriptions, but with products to be purchased directly at supermarkets.

A kit containing all the necessary fresh vegetables for preparing a complete meal at home, these boxes represent a revolution launched from Torreilles, the historical stronghold of the brand in the Pyrénées-Orientales.

In this factory located at the heart of the food-producing Salanque, Florette has conceived and prepared its first meal kits. Pierre Méliet, General Manager of Florette France, explains how they have evolved their products over the years to include fruits, snacks, and more elaborated meal ingredients alongside their prepared salads.

Florette’s meal kit boxes contain all the ingredients needed to prepare healthy and balanced recipes: freshly peeled, washed, and chopped vegetables, starches, sauces, and toppings.

Featuring a range of five recipes, the boxes will be sold between 6.50 and 6.90 euros per box in stores. Each box serves two to three people, offering a complete meal for a maximum of 2 to 3 euros per person.

This innovative concept of vegetable-based meal kits is a new addition not yet present in stores. Florette aims to promote fresh and natural vegetables, free from preservatives, and minimally processed, allowing consumers to add animal protein on their own if desired.

These meal kit boxes represent a complete innovation in the market, available in major French stores since late March and gradually expanding across the country.
