In the current geopolitical context, the necessary remobilization of the nation and territories around defense issues involves strengthening the defense correspondent. However, its ambiguous status requires a redefinition for which Member of Parliament Julien Dive formulates eleven recommendations in a report delivered in early April to the Minister of the Armed Forces, Catherine Vautrin.

Introduced by a circular in 2001, the year of the end of mandatory military service, the defense correspondent was formalized by ministerial instruction in 2009.
