For the first public meeting he held on Thursday evening at Les Recollets in a packed room, Cedric Vaissieres, leader of the Caussade Avenir list, chose to address four themes that are particularly important to all members of the list, namely Mobility and accessibility; Essential local services; Security and tranquility; and Quality of life. Prior to this, he introduced all his team members one by one before introducing himself. Having spent a good part of his youth in Caussade where his grandfather owned a bakery, Cedric had a career in commerce in various sectors as a sales manager before deciding to dedicate himself to public life. As a departmental advisor since 2021, responsible for all departmental roads and buildings, he reflected for a year on how he could reconcile the responsibility of being mayor of Caussade with the one he holds at the department. Furthermore, he stated that he would never seek to become a deputy or senator, preferring a policy of proximity “to the people” as he put it, surrounded by a fairly young team with an average age of 55, spread throughout the municipality with complementary professional and associative skills. “Caussade must become a city that stands out on the map,” he said, regretting that other municipalities in the department are developing more quickly, while referring to the high poverty rate. “Wherever I have been, I have always been concerned about results,” he admitted before advocating for the revitalization of downtown businesses without putting them in opposition to businesses on the outskirts, better management of green spaces and soft pathways that are much better suited to the population. The next meeting is Friday, March 13th at 7:00 p.m. at the Bonnaïs space for further discussions with the Caussade Avenir list.
