For several weeks, members of La France insoumise have been facing numerous intimidations. Mathilde Panot denounced on Wednesday, April 8, a death threat letter received by the party. The leader of the LFI deputies announced filing a complaint.

A tense political climate. In a message posted on the social network X, Mathilde Panot, leader of the La France insoumise deputies, explained that her party had received “new death threats at the National Assembly along with a bullet from a rifle.”

“You Mélenchon the Islamist, you Bonobo the monkey, you Panot the big loudmouth, you Rima Hassan the Palestinian who despises France, you Raphaël Arnault the violent militia member with a police record, you Louis Boyard the idiot from the LFI group, you Bompard the loudmouth filled with obsessions,” is the first part of the threatening letter received by the rebellious group.

As noted by Mathilde Panot, a real bullet from a rifle was also enclosed with the piece of paper. “We have seven (bullet) rounds like this, and you will take them to your face before 2027. You are a disgrace to the Republic, leave the country before…” can still be read in this letter.

A filed complaint

Mathilde Panot announced filing a complaint and attributes these death threats to the extreme right. “Let the extreme right know, we will never bow our heads. We will not give in to them,” she added on X.

“Those who are unleashing a wave of violence against us, your words have consequences,” further wrote the deputy of the Palais Bourbon on X.

For several weeks, La France insoumise has been regularly intimidated. Just a few days after the death of nationalist activist Quentin Deranque in Lyon, the party’s headquarters in Paris was evacuated due to a bomb threat.

During the municipal campaign, the La France insoumise candidate in Strasbourg, Jamila Haddoum, was also threatened with death with a knife by a 61-year-old man while putting up posters for the election.

In January, “the deputy Sébastien Delogu had already received a death threat letter, targeting him, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, and Mathilde Panot,” LFI explained in a statement. This letter was also accompanied by a bullet.
