Ultra Fine Drawing

This March, the Central Vapeur Festival will bring some color back to the city of Strasbourg with its celebration of all forms of comic strips, drawing, and illustration. The festival will feature 8 exhibitions, meetings, readings, workshops, and the famous independent salon, a library reserved for indie publishers. The festival will kick off on March 4 with a parade of micronations. This year, 40 flags illustrated by different artists representing each micronation will be showcased. The festival will start at 2 pm in front of the Atelier demi-douzaine on Quai Finkmatt and make its way to Menuiserie Coop on Rue de la Coopérative at Port du Rhin by 4 pm.

From March 4 to March 29, head to Quai des Bateliers in Krutenau for an exhibition of posters based on Laura Simonati’s illustrated album “The Feast of Dogs.” The dog theme will continue with other events such as the exhibition “Dog’s Life” at Atelier demi-douzaine, drawing dialogues at Menuiserie Coop, and a film series on the same theme at cinemas Star and Cosmos.

The Independent Salon will take place on the weekend of March 28 and 29 at Garage Coop and CRIC. It’s a chance to explore new books, abstract drawings, delicate objects, screen-printed posters, comic zines, or niche publications. Attendees can also participate in various activities and stand a chance to win attractive creations. Admission is free, but it’s advisable to have cash on hand for purchases at the stands.
