Verbal threats of extreme violence. Donald Trump, on Tuesday, April 7 on his Truth Social platform, declared that “an entire civilization will die this [Tuesday] evening,” just a few hours before the deadline against Iran in the evening (8 p.m. in the United States, 2 a.m. in France) to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. “I don’t want this to happen, but it will probably be the case,” added Donald Trump.
Following this, the American Vice President, however, remained more optimistic, ensuring that “many negotiations” still needed to take place on Tuesday. While in Budapest, Hungary, J.D. Vance affirmed that the United States had already “largely achieved their military objectives” in Iran. But according to him, if the war were to continue, the Iranian leaders “must know that we have tools in our arsenal that, so far, we have not decided to use.” Donald Trump “can decide to use them, and he will decide to use them if the Iranians do not change their behavior,” he added.
“Today, the President of the United States used not only deeply irresponsible language, but also entirely alarming language,” reacted the Iranian ambassador to the UN on Tuesday, before the Security Council meeting in New York. According to Amir Saeid Iravani, Donald Trump openly revealed his intention to commit war crimes and crimes against humanity.
“We have so far shown great restraint in a spirit of good neighborliness, but these reservations are now lifted… If the terrorist American army crosses the red lines, our response will extend beyond the region,” the Iranian Revolutionary Guards also warned.
The American head of state is “alone” in knowing “what he will do” in Iran, his spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, also affirmed. On Monday, the American president had stated his readiness to “destroy the entire Iran… in a single night” if the ultimatum he set for the Islamic Republic expires without results. According to him, the United States can destroy the country’s bridges and power plants “in four hours.”
