On this occasion, Le Hoai Trung, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs, gave interviews to the press concerning the results of Secretary General To Lam’s participation in the meeting.

Journalist: Minister, could you discuss the importance and results of Secretary General To Lam’s participation in the inaugural meeting of the Gaza Peace Council?

Le Hoai Trung, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs: The working visit of Secretary General To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation to attend the opening meeting of the Gaza Peace Council is the first major multilateral and international diplomatic activity at the highest level of our Party and State since the 14th National Party Congress.

This important foreign policy activity marks a milestone in the implementation of Vietnam’s independent, self-reliant, self-reinforcing, peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and development-oriented foreign policy, as well as the foreign policy of the 14th National Party Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, where Vietnam will make positive and responsible contributions to peace, cooperation, sustainable development, as well as positive and responsible contributions to resolving common regional and international issues.

In accordance with the spirit of Secretary General To Lam’s latest article, “Promoting global foreign relations to a new level,” this new level is achieved in this new phase through this significant multilateral foreign policy activity. It reflects our goodwill and efforts to contribute to promoting peace in the Middle East and ensuring the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to establish a Palestinian state in the Middle East. This trip also contributes to strengthening Vietnam’s relations with the host country and its international partners, including Middle Eastern countries.

During his participation in the meeting, the Secretary General exchanged views on Vietnam’s position regarding the Middle East peace process and the Palestinian issue, reaffirming the Vietnamese people’s viewpoint and ideology, a nation that has experienced many sacrifices and losses linked to war, a nation that has always strived for peace.

As a result, the international and local media highly appreciate the fact that Vietnam and Secretary General To Lam are founding members of the Gaza Peace Council, and that Secretary General To Lam leads the high-level delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State at this meeting.

Public opinion perceives Vietnam’s participation as a reflection of its foreign policy aiming to contribute to peace and development in the world, as well as the international recognition and respect for its position and capacity to contribute to it. During these exchanges, the Secretary General affirmed that Vietnam would make a concrete contribution, including participating in peacekeeping operations to ensure stability in Gaza and in post-conflict humanitarian aid and reconstruction activities.

During this trip, the Secretary General held meetings with high-ranking leaders from various countries, including leaders from Middle Eastern and other regions participating in the meeting.

Regarding the host country, Secretary General To Lam met with US President Donald Trump, welcomed Ambassador Jamieson Greer, US Trade Representative, spoke on the phone with US senators, and met with the Vietnamese community in the United States. The meetings between members of the Politburo and ministers with their American counterparts were all conducted effectively and constructively.

During the meetings, the Secretary General and the delegation members provided information on the situation in Vietnam, the results of the reform process over the past 40 years, including the 5 years of implementing the resolutions of the 13th Party Congress with development goals for 2030 and 2045.

The Secretary General also presented Vietnam’s development orientations and foreign policy, affirming the continued strengthening of relations with its partners, especially with the host country, the United States, within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership.

The visit by the Secretary General is part of the foreign policy activities that will be implemented soon after the 14th Party Congress, particularly the successful actions taken with our neighbors. These include the state visit of the Secretary General and a high-level delegation of the Party and State to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, followed by a state visit to Cambodia. He will also attend the meeting between the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Permanent Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party, as well as the meeting of party leaders from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. Important foreign policy actions with our neighbors are forthcoming.

Journalist: Minister, could you tell us about the plans to implement the results achieved during this trip?

Le Hoai Trung, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs: In the coming months, we will study and implement the roadmap for the Peace Plan, centered around three main axes. Firstly, stabilizing the situation in Gaza and ensuring respect for the ceasefire. Secondly, initiating a long-term reconstruction process for Gaza, meeting the essential needs of the population, restoring infrastructure, and progressively developing various economic sectors. Thirdly, strengthening the infrastructure and governance of Palestinians in Gaza. We will conduct specific studies to identify areas where we can intervene, such as our participation in UN peacekeeping operations, which has earned us high praise. Our armed forces and police can participate in UN peacekeeping operations; the police can contribute to maintaining security and public order in Gaza, as well as training local police forces.

We can also participate in humanitarian activities and reconstruction efforts in areas where we have extensive experience, having gone through many years of war, and Vietnam now has the necessary capacities in construction and infrastructure development.

We will also contribute to the efforts of other international partners, including countries and international organizations, especially those of the United Nations. We will continue to participate in initiatives led by countries in the region and beyond, or support them, to strengthen peace in the Middle East, peace and stability in Gaza, and, above all, to ensure the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, especially their right to establish their own state.
