Targeted Attack – Ukraine Attempts to Dry Up Russia’s Oil Reserves as Fuel Prices Continue to Rise

The damages appear to be limited. Last Sunday morning, Russia admitted to being hit by Ukrainian drones near the strategic port of Primorsk on the Baltic Sea. Russian authorities claim there was no damage to the oil pipeline near the Finnish border, despite an apparent leak. Drone debris, which were shot down, damaged the oil installation. A “secure area” had to be initiated for safety reasons.

Russian anti-aircraft defenses destroyed 19 drones and no casualties were reported, according to Russian authorities. Some sources even announced that the oil pipeline was “not damaged.” “The oil leak was caused by shrapnel hitting one of the oil tanks,” they said.

The port of Primorsk is located between the Finnish border and the major city of St. Petersburg, hundreds of kilometers away from the front line. Owned by the Russian company Transneft, this strategic infrastructure has a capacity of one million barrels of crude oil per day according to analysts.

Increasing Number of Attacks

Kiev is targeting energy installations in Russia in an attempt to dry up the hydrocarbon resources with which Moscow supports and finances its offensive in Ukraine.
