The U.S. Olympic team made history by winning their 11th gold medal at the Milano Cortina Winter Games. Kaila Khun, Connor Curran, and Chris Lillis secured the victory in the mixed team aerials event, surpassing the previous record set during the last Olympics held in Salt Lake City in 2022. The win brought the U.S. total medal count to 30, placing them second behind Norway, who recently set a Winter Games record with their 17th gold medal. Upcoming events could increase Team USA’s gold medal tally, including the U.S. men’s hockey team facing Team Canada.

There are currently 38 more medal events in this year’s program compared to 2002. Several U.S. athletes have contributed to the team’s success, including Alex Ferreira in freeskiing, Breezy Johnson in Alpine, Elizabeth Lemley in moguls, Alysa Liu in figure skating, Elana Meyers Taylor in bobsled, Mikaela Shiffrin in Alpine, Jordan Stolz in speedskating, the U.S. figure skating team, and the U.S. women’s hockey team. Each athlete’s journey and achievements have added to the U.S.’s stellar performance in the Winter Olympics.
