It was a theft worthy of a Hollywood screenplay that occurred in the 1st arrondissement of Lyon.

During the night from Wednesday April 1 to Thursday April 2, a spectacular theft took place on the slopes of Croix-Rousse (Lyon 1st). Professional filming equipment was stolen from a truck that was under surveillance.

The incident occurred on rue Lemot, where several technical vehicles were parked as part of filming a feature film for the Netflix platform. Despite the presence of two security agents, one or more individuals managed to break into one of the trucks by cutting its roof.

Inside, the thieves made off with two professional cameras and a series of high-end lenses. The damage is estimated between 500,000 and 1 million euros.

An apparently well-prepared operation

According to information gathered by our colleagues at Le Parisien, the criminals were well prepared. This is evidenced by the neutralization of a motion detector supposed to protect the equipment and the lack of fingerprints at the scene of the theft. Investigators do not rule out the possibility that the thieves had accomplices.

An investigation has been opened by the Lyon prosecutor’s office and entrusted to judicial police in order to identify the perpetrators.
