In the 87th minute of PSG-Toulouse, Gonçalo Ramos secured Paris’s victory on Friday at the Parc des Princes in the opening of the 28th match day (3-1). Despite limited playtime, the Portuguese forward received praise from his coach.
Gonçalo Ramos showed maximum efficiency. Starting on the bench again on Friday for the Toulouse match, the Portuguese international (24 caps) was decisive, scoring the third and final goal for PSG’s victory over TFC at the Parc des Princes (3-1). Despite only starting ten times in 26 Ligue 1 matches, the former Benfica player has managed to capitalize on the limited playing time given by Luis Enrique, scoring 12 goals in 1396 minutes played in all competitions (out of 39 games). 50% of his goals came as a substitute.
“Today (Friday), Gonçalo Ramos played five minutes and scored. He fights all the time. It’s incredible. It’s unfair what I do to him but he shows me that I’m wrong,” highlighted Luis Enrique on Ligue 1+ at the final whistle.
“We did a good job”
Aware of the need to manage the workload of his players during a hectic schedule, the Spanish coach praised the versatility of some players. “A coach’s life is tough, we think about winning games, managing players’ condition. After every international break, it’s very complicated. To win trophies, we need a lot of players. No matter the players, we showed that we did a good job. It’s balanced because the players have the intention and quality to help the team. (Lucas) Beraldo played in a new position but did very well. There are many players changing positions. Today, Doué was clearly a forward but can play as a midfielder. It’s important to show to your coach that you can play like that. When you want to go to the World Cup, it’s important to know there are players who can play anywhere. I seek to improve each player. Sometimes I’m wrong. I try to see their ability to handle the moment regardless of their position on the field.”
Paris showed commitment on Friday to set themselves up well before their first leg quarterfinal in the Champions League against Liverpool on Wednesday (9pm). In the meantime, the club solidified their first place in the league, with four points ahead and one game in hand compared to Lens, who play the northern derby against Lille on Saturday (9:05pm).
