Montpellier’s defense, the best in Ligue 2, will face a new test against the uncompromising Troyes offense this Saturday, April 4th (2 pm) at La Mosson.

Almost a year ago, on April 8, 2025, Zoumana Camara took over a leaky Montpellier ship, especially in defense (79 goals conceded in 34 games). A year later, Montpellier rebuilt their defense to be the most impermeable in Ligue 2 (25 goals conceded in 28 matches), providing hope for the upcoming sprint.

“It’s more of a mindset. It’s not just the four defenders, it’s the whole team,” said Enzo Tchato. “We need to maintain it. If everyone is convinced that we won’t concede goals, it will continue. It’s a strength to rely on for the rest of the season.”

Starting with this afternoon’s test against the league leaders Troyes, who have the second-best attack in the competition, led by top scorer Bentayeb (15 goals).

If Troyes have been strong recently, scoring 15 goals in the last five matches, with half of them coming in the final quarter of an hour.

Montpellier’s defense, missing key player Christopher Jullien due to suspension, will rely on Mouanga to face Ngapandouetnbu, who has had a busy international break.

Ngapandouetnbu’s recent success could contribute to achieving a fifth consecutive clean sheet for Montpellier, a feat not seen in the league since 2007-2008.

This Saturday’s match will test Montpellier’s ability to repeat such a performance against a challenging Troyes side.
