A traffic stop in Seminole County on Friday resulted in an hour-long closure of eastbound Interstate 4 after troopers received a tip about a possible explosive on a truck. The lanes reopened just before 5 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the incident took place near mile marker 101 in Lake Mary. As a precaution, resources from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office were called in to inspect the vehicle. Officials deployed a dog to check the back of a semi-truck parked on the side of the highway, causing significant traffic congestion according to FL511 maps.

Deputies were seen redirecting traffic on the ramp onto the highway while troopers and Seminole County deputies investigated the suspected explosive device. The white semi-truck was pulled over and the driver, identified as 49-year-old Kelvin Harp from Clarksville, Tennessee, was arrested and taken to Seminole County Jail. The situation unfolded after an individual reported that a truck driver had allegedly threatened to use explosives. The closure of the eastbound lanes lasted over an hour, but the truck was eventually cleared and the lanes were reopened around 5 p.m.

Fortunately, no explosive devices were found in the truck. Harp now faces multiple charges, including threatening to discharge an explosive device and making threats to kill.
