In the space at Jean-Carrère in Argelès-sur-Mer, the show was a real treasure, an enchanting moment filled with poetry and humor. It was also a true tribute to inclusion. On stage, students from three regular classes and children with disabilities from the Galaxie Motor Education Institute (IEM) performed skits and songs together based on the theme of Jean de La Fontaine’s Fables and the world of animals.

Led by David Gonzalez, a musician and educator in preschools and primary schools in Argelès-sur-Mer, the children, clearly delighted to be on stage, performed their roles brilliantly: Master Fox and his handsome crow, frivolous cicadas and hardworking ants, alternating recitations of poetry and role-playing dialogues. They also beautifully sang some French classics like “The Bird and the Child” and “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”

This magnificent end-of-year show is the result of a year of inclusion for students from three CP and CE1 classes at Curie-Pasteur and Molière schools and the Galaxie IEM. “We have been rehearsing since early October,” explained David Gonzalez, who spends 45 minutes a week in each class. “It’s not much, but the children are receptive and they love it!” After leaving the stage, the young artists shared a generous snack: all that emotion works up an appetite!
