During his early years at the Military Medical Academy, Long clearly defined his learning and training objectives to align with the future roles of a military doctor. Not only did he aim for academic excellence, but he also devoted considerable time to scientific research, a field that demands critical thinking, unwavering professional rigor, and indomitable perseverance.

Sergeant Dong The Long has stood out for his highly applied scientific research, directly addressing tangible medical issues. Despite his young age, he participated in the project “Evaluation of the number, mobility, and morphology of sperm in male infertility associated with Y chromosome microdeletions” and, along with his research team, won the first prize in the Scientific and Technological Competition for students from higher education institutions organized by the Ministry of Education and Training. This project was praised for its creativity, research methodology, and significant importance in the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic direction of male infertility. These achievements led Long to receive the “Creative Youth” badge and a certificate of merit from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Sergeant Dong The Long did not stop there; he also excelled at the 22nd Scientific and Technological Conference of youth in the medical field with his project titled “Establishment of a process to increase fetal fraction in non-invasive prenatal screening,” which earned him an excellence award. These works paved the way for an effective approach to screening and early detection of genetic abnormalities in fetuses without affecting pregnancy. Additionally, he previously won the first prize at the student scientific research conference at the Academy and the second prize at the Ministry level for his research on blood lactate concentration in predicting the prognosis of patients with multiple organ failure. This project was particularly appreciated for its application in emergency resuscitation, providing doctors with additional tools to monitor, evaluate, and improve treatment effectiveness for critically ill patients.

In addition to his outstanding academic and scientific performance, Dong The Long is a dynamic and committed youth union leader. As a Party member and deputy secretary of the union branch, he plays an essential role in advising and proposing ideas to the branch commander and executive committee on organizing youth activities and movements. His actions aim to ensure their feasibility and mobilize a large number of members, contributing to creating a positive learning and training atmosphere within the unit.

Thanks to his constant efforts, Sergeant Dong The Long has repeatedly been awarded the titles of Outstanding Soldier at the base level and High-Level Soldier. He was recently praised by the head of the General Political Department for his outstanding performance within the “Youth Movement of the Army for Morality, Talent, Pioneering Spirit, Creativity, and Dignity of Being Called a Soldier of Ho Chi Minh in the New Era” for the period 2022-2025. Sergeant Dong The Long is among the 10 most promising young talents in the army in 2025.
