President Threatens to Leave NATO
- The American president has called NATO a “paper tiger” and threatened to leave the Alliance on Wednesday.

With criticisms, threats… and possibly action? Criticizing NATO since the start of the war in the Middle East, American President Donald Trump confirmed on Wednesday, April 1st that he was ready to withdraw his country from the Atlantic Alliance. When asked by the British newspaper The Telegraph
if he was considering questioning his country’s membership in NATO after the conflict, Donald Trump responded: “Oh yes, I would even say it goes beyond just questioning.”
In recent weeks, the White House tenant has been very critical of the United States’ allies, including France, the United Kingdom, and NATO, accusing them of not adequately supporting the American army in its conflict against Iran. He again referred to NATO as a “paper tiger”
on Wednesday.

These statements have not been well received by the members of the Atlantic Alliance. NATO is “the most effective military alliance the world has ever known,”
defended British Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a press conference, adding that it “has ensured our security for decades”
and that the United Kingdom is “fully committed”
to it.
