A popular cream cheese flavor sold by Einstein Bros Bagels in four states is being recalled as officials say the products were mislabeled, which could lead to life-threatening allergic reactions.

According to a recall notice posted on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website, the recall affects cases of Einstein Bros Bagels’ Honey Almond Cream Cheese Spread that officials say was mislabeled as plain cream cheese when in reality it contains almonds.

The FDA says people with an almond sensitivity may experience a severe allergic reaction if they consume the spread.

“Subsequent investigation indicates there was a limited packaging staging issue that was corrected, and review confirmed the issue was contained to this product only,” the FDA said.

The affected products were sold in six-ounce plastic cups labeled as “Plain,” with lids labeled as “Honey Almond,” officials say. The recalled products were distributed to Einstein Bros Bagel locations in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming with a “Best If Used By” date of July 21.

According to the FDA, customers with the recalled cream cheese at home are urged to return it to Einstein Bros Bagels for a full refund.
