The preparations for the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2026 are progressing.
The Vietnam International Defense Expo is not only a large-scale defense diplomacy event, but also an important milestone highlighting the prestige, organizational capacity, and international integration of the Vietnam People’s Army in a multilateral defense cooperation environment, said General Nguyễn Trường Thăng, Vice Minister of Defense.
More than 40 companies and units have confirmed their participation in the 2024 Vietnam International Defense Expo.
Speaking at a preparatory conference on February 26 for the 2026 exhibition, Thăng emphasized that the event contributes to implementing the policies of the Party, state, and Central Military Commission on international integration, defense diplomacy, and developing a modern, autonomous, dual-use defense industry.
The 2026 edition, themed “Peace, Friendship, Cooperation, and Development,” will be held on a larger scale throughout the year, showcasing a wide range of weapons and technical equipment, as well as product exhibitions, seminars, live field demonstrations, and business networking activities.
Thăng called for the event to be organized to higher standards, with greater professionalism and concrete cooperation results to reflect Vietnam’s increasing role on the international stage. Preparations must start early and be conducted meticulously to ensure the absolute security of personnel, vehicles, equipment, and all activities during the event.
Brigadier General Phan Thị Hồng Vân, Deputy Head of the General Department of Defense Industry, noted the successful organization of the event in 2022 and 2024, each time expanding in scale and quality.
The 2022 and 2024 editions featured comprehensive exhibition models combining indoor product presentations with outdoor displays of real equipment and live demonstrations of weapons and technical systems. Companies from the navy, air force, and army participated, showcasing equipment currently in service.
The 2022 and 2024 editions drew significant attention nationally and internationally, confirming Vietnam’s position, credibility, and peaceful defense policy, Vân added. The participation of large global defense companies and high-level delegations from numerous countries highlighted the growing appeal of the event and Vietnam’s increasing role in multilateral defense cooperation, strengthening strategic trust and promoting dialogue for shared security.
