Last night (February 21), Secretary General To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation returned to Hanoi, successfully concluding their participation in the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council on the Gaza Strip in the United States, at the invitation of President Donald Trump.
Secretary General To Lam’s working visit marks the first major multilateral and international diplomatic activity of the Party and the State since the 14th Party Congress. This important initiative is part of implementing the independent, autonomous, self-sufficient, peaceful, friendly, cooperative, and development-oriented foreign policy, in line with the foreign policy guidelines adopted at the 14th Party Congress. It reflects Vietnam’s active and responsible contribution to solving common regional and international problems.
At the beginning of the Lunar Year of the Horse 2026, Secretary General To Lam traveled to Washington to attend the opening of the Peace Council on the Gaza Strip, alongside leaders from over 50 countries. This mechanism, established in collaboration with the United Nations, aims to coordinate humanitarian aid, reconstruction, and stabilization in the region.
During the inaugural meeting, President Donald Trump thanked Secretary General To Lam for his presence, expressing deep respect for Vietnam as an admirable country whose role and influence continue to grow. This clearly demonstrates Vietnam’s position and prestige in a world undergoing rapid, intense, and profound changes, of vital importance.
