Morocco Reaffirms Support for Gulf Countries Against Iranian Aggression

Morocco reiterated its support for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations against Iranian aggression. Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita emphasized the continuity of Rabat’s diplomatic line and the importance of the strategic relations between King Mohammed VI and Gulf leaders for the stability of the region.

During the 8th Morocco-GCC ministerial meeting held via videoconference on March 12, 2026, Morocco, represented by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s unwavering and constant commitment to the Gulf states in the face of Iranian aggression. This position is in line with Morocco’s foreign policy and exchanges between King Mohammed VI and Gulf leaders, aimed at ensuring regional security against Iranian interference and support for militias.

“There was a reaffirmation of the positions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as expressed during his discussions with the kings, presidents, and emirs of the countries concerned. These exchanges emphasized a clear message of support and solidarity towards these states, victims of aggression. These expressions of solidarity have been noted.”

Cooperation between Morocco and the Gulf countries has expanded to include economic and social resilience, as well as the ability to meet the essential needs of populations in times of crisis. Minister Bourita recalled that this direction is a continuation of the directives of the Morocco-Gulf summit of 2016, where the two parties underlined their common values and complementarity in the face of regional and global challenges.

The partnership between Morocco and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is called to evolve, surpassing the status of a simple alliance to achieve much closer and proactive cooperation. This complementarity would materialize notably through the creation of secure logistical corridors, essential for food and energy sovereignty. Additionally, there are plans to launch a joint investment fund targeting the financing of such infrastructures, considered extremely important.

Meanwhile, Morocco reiterated that the Palestinian issue remains a regional priority. The Kingdom supports a just and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on a two-state solution, ensuring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
