War in Ukraine: Moscow and Kiev exchanged 175 prisoners from each side before the implementation of an Easter truce

A short truce requested by Russia will come into effect this Saturday afternoon for the Orthodox Easter. Ukraine will respect the ceasefire but will respond in kind, as assured by the Ukrainian president.

Ukraine will respect the ceasefire that is set to begin on Saturday afternoon for the Orthodox Easter, but will respond “tit for tat” to any Russian violation, as declared by the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.

350 prisoners exchanged

Russia and Ukraine also exchanged 350 prisoners of war on Saturday, 175 from each side, as announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense, just hours before the expected start of the Easter truce.

“On April 11, 175 Russian military personnel were repatriated from the territory controlled by Kiev. In exchange, 175 prisoners of war from the Ukrainian armed forces were handed over,” indicated the Russian Ministry of Defense in a statement published on the MAX application.
