Players have taken to the courts for the first FIP Bronze tournament held at the Via Padel complex in Rivesaltes.
The qualifications started on Wednesday and continue on Thursday, April 9th at the courts of the Rivesaltes complex, hosting the first tournament accredited by the International Padel Federation (with a prize money of 8,500 euros) organized in the Pyrénées-Orientales since 2022.
Qualified players will enter the final draw starting from Friday. The first matches will start at 12 p.m. and will finish around 9:30 p.m. The women’s draw will kick off on Saturday with the round of 16. All semi-finals and finals will be held on Sunday.
Headliners include French players Thomas Leygue, Bastien Blanque (partnered with Perpignan’s Yoan Boronad), and Dylan Guichard, as well as Carla Touly, Marie-Amélie Dardaine, and Camille Sireix. To go all the way, they will have to overcome the Spanish pairs who are among the favorites of the tournament, both in the women’s and men’s categories. An armada arrives in numbers as the tournament that was supposed to be held in Doha was postponed due to the conflict in the Middle East.
In terms of entertainment, a celebrity tournament is scheduled for Saturday night. Sixteen personalities from television (Koh Lanta, Mariés au premier regard), sports (Maxime Mermoz, Wilfried Hounkpatin…), and social media (Cynthia Blin, Ben le patriote…) have confirmed their presence. The final of this tournament will be played as the opening act for the FIP Bronze final.
