Oman and the United Arab Emirates have differing opinions on the recent ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran. While Oman emphasizes the need for serious negotiations for lasting peace, the UAE sees their actions as triumphant in a war they sought to avoid.
The UAE believes their national defense efforts saved sovereignty and dignity, strengthening the country’s development model. Like Oman, they plan to play a significant role in shaping the regional landscape. Saudi Arabia is supporting the forthcoming agreement to address long-standing issues causing instability, particularly ensuring access through the Strait of Hormuz.
Qatar also welcomes the two-week truce but demands compensation from Iran for damages caused by Iranian attacks. There is an underlying concern among Gulf leaders that the agreement may give Iran unprecedented control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, potentially posing a military threat to the Arab states.
