The journalism chapter seems definitively closed for Audrey Pulvar, who was promoted on March 29, 2026, as “responsible for international relations, Europe, and the French-speaking world.” The Paris Council validated this proposal from Emmanuel Grégoire, the new mayor of the capital, succeeding Anne Hidalgo.
The socialist had already appointed the Martinican to her side during the previous mandate, as an assistant “in charge of agriculture, short local supply chains, and sustainable food.”
A new political challenge for 6 years
“I will therefore have the honor of being the face of Paris internationally – on behalf of the mayor of the capital – and the responsibility of representing the voice of Paris in global city networks, especially on major issues of ecological transition, mobility, environmental health, respect for human rights, and diplomacy (…). I will strive to be worthy of it.” – Audrey Pulvar (on her social networks)
“To carry the plea for more social justice, real equality, access to rights at the European level, to make the French-speaking world shine in the world, will be missions that I will fulfill with the enthusiasm and inexhaustible energy with which nature has endowed me.” – Audrey Pulvar
She, who describes herself as an “eco-feminist” from the left, also rejoices in being the “first woman [and] first Black woman to hold these positions”.
“At the moment of taking on this role, my thoughts were with my mother, my maternal grandparents, my sisters, my daughter, and my grandson, but also with all those who resemble me and who, like me, did not have or do not have the codes, networks, or possessions that pave the way for many. With our skin color and our unwavering determination, what do we have? Life, freedom, faith in oneself.” – Audrey Pulvar
In addition to writing, Audrey Pulvar has become a political figure in the French capital and has gradually taken a liking to it, after a career of over 25 years in the press (ATV, France 2, France 3, France Inter, Canal Plus Group, LCI, Les Inrocks, I-Télé).
As she approaches her 54th birthday since last February and thanks to the “unstoppable energy” she boasts, one can speculate that Audrey Pulvar secretly harbors other political ambitions. Could a seat in parliament be in her sights for the coming years? Only time will tell.
