Participants at the provincial representation conference in Lai Chau Present at the meeting of the provincial branch in Lai Chau were comrade Kieu Hai Nam, director of the Department of Foreign Affairs; representatives of the leaders of the following departments and agencies: Provincial Police; Provincial Military Command; Foreign Affairs; Finance; Industry and Trade; Agriculture and Environment; Education and Training; Construction; Culture, Sports, and Tourism; Health; Provincial Economic Zone Management Council; Provincial People’s Committee Office.

Important context: Participants gathered for a conference in Lai Chau to discuss international integration and offer solutions for future development.

During the first quarter of 2026, high-level activities in foreign policy were carried out by the Party, State, and Government, including visits, strategic dialogues, and defense dialogues with major partners and concerned countries. These activities played a crucial role in strengthening political trust and promoting concrete cooperation in various areas.

In addition, proactive foreign policy activities were undertaken by ministries, sectors, and localities to expand development opportunities and attract external resources for socio-economic development in a competitive environment.

Multi-lateral level engagement: Vietnam continued to assert its active and responsible role in regional and international cooperation mechanisms such as ASEAN and the UN Human Rights Council, as well as engaging in international cooperation programs supported by the European Union.

Advancements in science and technology cooperation positively contributed to the country’s strategic goals, with strengthened cooperation in sectors such as energy, high technology, human resource training, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence.

In the realm of culture, social affairs, tourism, and the environment, international cooperation yielded positive results in enhancing people-to-people exchanges and building a sustainable partnership.

Coordination mechanisms across sectors have been improved and are functioning effectively according to the government’s unified direction. Various important forums have been organized to enhance policy planning and quality.

Affected by the rapidly changing global situation, the conference provided delegates with the opportunity to address challenges and propose solutions to enhance cooperation, both domestically and internationally.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh concluded the meeting, commending the positive outcomes achieved in foreign policy during the first quarter of 2026, contributing to a peaceful and stable environment conducive to national development.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister urged ministries, sectors, and localities to focus on key areas in the coming period, including proactive monitoring of the situation, maintaining and strengthening cooperative relations with other countries and international partners, adjusting policies to adapt to the new situation effectively, transforming challenges into opportunities, and continuously improving the quality and efficiency of foreign policy and international integration.
