An international beatbox workshop at the middle school is gaining attention with the arrival of an American champion.
At the middle school, beatboxing is making its way into the playground. At the initiative of Jason, an education assistant, a dedicated workshop on this vocal art has been developing for two years, allowing students to discover an original musical practice based solely on sounds produced with the mouth.
Every week, 17 middle school students, gathered in a mixed group, are gradually introduced to beatbox techniques. The program includes learning basic sounds, rhythmic work, and exploration of a complete musical culture. Students readily mention their references, such as Mister Androïde or Peter Beatbox.
This Friday, the workshop took on an exceptional dimension. In partnership with the One-One association of Carcassonne, as part of the Generalized Convention of Artistic and Cultural Education (CGEAC), the middle school courtyard turned into a true international stage.
On the eve of the international One-One battle organized at the Dome, the students had the privilege of welcoming Bizkit, the American beatbox champion, notably crowned Loopstation champion in 2021 and US champion in 2025. Recognized for his flow and technicality, the artist delivered an impressive performance, proving that the human voice has no limits. A mini-concert thus enlivened the playground, bringing the students closer to the action.
Beyond the performance, the meeting continued with a privileged exchange time. In the form of an interactive press conference, prepared with their English teacher, Mrs. Cathary, the middle school students were able to interview the artist in his native language.
Founded in 2014, the One-One association carries out an ambitious educational project: to make hip-hop a conveyer of transmission, inclusion, and empowerment. Through disciplines like beatboxing, breaking, and graffiti, it guides young people towards self-improvement and respect for others.
