On Sunday, March 29, Iran condemned the American-Israeli bombings on its universities and threatened the United States with retaliation, indicating a desire to target American establishments in the Gulf.
For the past month, the situation in the Middle East has been escalating. After joint strikes on Tehran, Iran by the United States and Israel that led to the elimination of Ayatollah Khamenei, the war has spread and caused numerous casualties. In a statement relayed on Sunday, March 29, by Iranian media, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards threaten to target American universities in the Middle East after reporting the destruction of two universities in Iran by American-Israeli strikes. Iran also sets an ultimatum for the United States.
“If the American government wants its universities in the region to avoid retaliation, it must condemn the bombing of universities in an official statement before Monday, March 30, at noon,” a statement reads. According to reports from Ouest-France newspaper, the United States has several universities in the Middle East, including a campus of Georgetown Academy specializing in international relations in Qatar and the New York University campus in Abu Dhabi.
“We must strike where they are,” following explosions that shook Tehran on the night of Friday, March 27, touching the University of Science and Technology in the city’s northeast. Iranian media reported that several buildings were heavily damaged, without causing casualties. Employees, professors, and students of Iranian institutions are advised to stay at least one kilometer away to prevent the risk of new bombings.
Furthermore, Iran threatens to strike the hotels in the Middle East where American military personnel are staying. On state television, the spokesman for the armed forces, Abolfazl Shekarchi, stated on Thursday, March 26, “Should we simply stand by and let the Americans strike us? When we retaliate, we must naturally strike where they are.” Meanwhile, Donald Trump continues to assure that the operation in Iran is going well and should soon come to an end.
