They finished with fourteen players, scored thirteen points, and battled hard against their resilient neighbors, Toulousaines, this late afternoon. The slight setback in the standings compared to ASM/Romagnat, the new pool leader, is a minor offense considering the game was far from over as the hour mark approached and the score stood at a rare 0-0!
There was no question of an offensive bonus for the favorites at that time as Blagnac held their ground, even though they did not create many clear-cut chances. Eventually, a good play along with an overlap on the right wing allowed Filopon to open the scoring. It was about time. As the minutes passed, Stade Toulousain imposed their physical presence, with their hosts defending with determination. Despite committing some errors under pressure, one of which resulted in a penalty and the first break by Argudo, who had been less effective until then: 8-0.
BRF finished stronger, and when Elina Folituu was propelled over the line by her teammates, it became clear that victory was assured for the most consistent team in terms of rotations. Due to the wintry conditions, the close zones were the preferred tactical choice, but they couldn’t capitalize on it.
On the contrary, BRF finished strong, and it took a knock-on from the young Condamines on the right for Lechardoy to have a chance to salvage a minimum. But there was no try, let alone a conversion. While the attack didn’t perform as expected, defensively, Stade Toulousain matched their rivals from Auvergne, conceding zero points yet again, maintaining high standards worthy of a future French champion. This will be discussed further in due course.
