SEOUL, April 13 (Yonhap) — President Lee Jae Myung and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will hold a summit on Monday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, Cheong Wa Dae announced.
Tusk arrived in South Korea yesterday for a two-day visit. This is the first time a Polish Prime Minister has visited the country for a bilateral meeting in 27 years.
Following their summit, they will hold a joint press conference and have an official lunch at Cheong Wa Dae.
During their discussions, Lee and Tusk are expected to explore ways to expand strategic cooperation in various areas, including defense industry cooperation.
In December, Poland signed a 5.6 trillion won ($4 billion) contract with South Korean arms manufacturer Hanwha Aerospace Co. to acquire Chunmoo multiple rocket launch systems.
They will also discuss the crisis in the Middle East and other geopolitical issues, as Poland is an important member of the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), said presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung.
