Several US Navy ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, marking the first such occurrence since the start of the American-Israeli war against Iran on February 28.

According to Axios journalist Barak Ravid on the American social network X, a US official confirmed this development, specifying that this operation was not coordinated with Iran.

This development comes as Pakistan negotiates to end the widespread armed conflict in the Middle East that began with the American-Israeli offensive against Iran on February 28. Pakistan earlier this week facilitated a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran.

The war in Iran has disrupted flows through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global trade in crude oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG), causing a severe energy shock globally.

Almost 3,000 Iranians have been killed in the war, according to the country’s health authorities. At least 13 American soldiers have also been killed and dozens injured.
