Russia is bombing its neighbor until the last moment. Two people were killed in the night from Friday the 10th to Saturday the 11th of April by a Russian attack on a residential area of Odessa, in southern Ukraine, just hours before a brief ceasefire between Moscow and Kiev for the Orthodox Easter.

“Two other injured persons are currently in the hospital,” and “civilian infrastructure suffered significant damage,” including buildings, a university residence, and a kindergarten, added Serhii Lysak, head of the military administration in the Odessa region. This major port city on the Black Sea is regularly targeted by Moscow.

The ceasefire proposed by the Kremlin is set to start on Saturday at 4 p.m. (local time) and last until the end of Sunday, a period of 32 hours. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, shortly after, stated that his country was ready to respect this rare pause in hostilities, which he had already proposed from his side, as discussions to end the conflict that has lasted for four years had derailed due to the war in the Middle East.
