It’s a real vitriolic tirade, “482 words long”, that Donald Trump addressed to his critics Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Megyn Kelly and Alex Jones on his social network, Truth Social, on April 9, as reported by The New York Times. In this message directed against these influencers and podcasters from the Maga camp (from the slogan “Make America great again,” or “Rendre sa grandeur à l’Amérique” in French), the White House tenant does not hesitate to unleash insults and personal attacks, highlighting notably:
“They all have one thing in common: the lowest IQ. They are stupid people, they know it, their families know it, and everyone knows it!”
While the differences between the American president and these conservative influencers have been simmering for some time, especially since the start of the military operation Epic Fury in Iran, it was the threats made by Donald Trump against Iran on April 7 that finally made the cup overflow.
Taking back control of the Maga movement
Influencer Candace Owens wrote on the X platform: “Donald Trump is a genocidal lunatic, our Congress and our military must intervene. We have surpassed the limits of madness.” Candace Owens, as well as podcaster Alex Jones, have even joined those “calling for the impeachment of Donald Trump under the 25th amendment of the American Constitution,” which allows declaring the president unfit and depriving him of his functions in favor of the vice president, as reported by the New York daily.
As USA Today points out, by taking on these media personalities more than harshly, Donald Trump is somehow trying to put out the fire within the Maga camp before it spreads. In his tirade, the White House tenant emphasizes that “the bulk of the Maga movement’s troops are on his side” and accuses these conservative influencers of “trying to get free publicity.”
