Rapid, furtive, and discreet, the scooter has become a popular means of transport for delinquents. Sunday, March 29, at around 4:30 pm, an individual boarded an electric scooter and robbed the tobacco shop Le Lotharingie on Grande Rue in Nancy. Wearing a hat and a surgical mask to conceal his face, the man brandished a firearm and demanded the contents of the cash register. Faced with the resistance of the tobacconist, the robber fled empty-handed.

On March 30, the Carrefour Express on Rue de la Craffe in Nancy was the target of a similar attack. This time, the robber posed as a customer at the checkout around 7:30 pm to pay for a simple bottle of water. When the employee opened the cash register, the individual threatened her with a firearm and took around 500 euros before fleeing on a scooter.

Sentenced to 4 years in 2020

Analysis of the CCTV footage allowed the suspect, well-known to the justice system, to be identified. In 2020, the man from Nancy was sentenced to 4 years, with 1 year probation, for a robbery at a bakery in Saintois.

On Friday, April 3, this homeless drug addict from Nancy was arrested by the anti-crime police officers. Following his custody for the purposes of the investigation by the Property Crime Brigade, the 39-year-old suspect was presented at the judicial court on Saturday and placed in pre-trial detention pending his trial on Friday, April 8, in immediate appearance.
