French Economy Minister Serge Papin stated to Le Parisien newspaper that the government cannot afford to provide massive assistance due to financial constraints. He emphasized the government’s stance since the beginning of the crisis in the Middle East. Papin also announced plans to expand the use of meal vouchers, allowing employees to use them on Sundays as well as introducing digital meal vouchers. These measures will be part of a proposed law to be presented soon.

Another initiative, aimed at unlocking up to €5,000 from employees’ savings plans in 2026 without taxation, is expected to have minimal impact on the state’s finances. Papin described the compromise as beneficial. A proposed law from the Senate’s right-wing is set to be examined on April 7. While savings could potentially support consumption during the crisis, the uncertain environment may lead people to save more instead.
