A promise kept. France has just delivered 39 VAB armored vehicles to the Lebanese Armed Forces, as promised by Emmanuel Macron to his counterpart Joseph Aoun, according to the Ministry of Defense website. This gesture demonstrates France’s support for Lebanon in a challenging context.

A ceremony was held at the port of Beirut on March 31 for the handover by French authorities, in the presence of French Minister Delegate to the Armed Forces Alice Rufo, Lebanese Chief of Staff Hassan Audi, French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro, and several officers.

The goal is to “guarantee Lebanon’s territorial integrity, protect civilians of all faiths, and preserve state institutions,” said Minister Delegate Alice Rufo during her speech. She highlighted the close relationship between the Lebanese and French armies and praised the role of the army in maintaining internal stability in Lebanon.
