Tiger Woods claimed to police that he was “on the phone with the president” just minutes after his accident in Florida, according to a bodycam video released publicly.

The video shows the police arriving at the scene of the accident last Friday in Martin County, Florida, where Tiger Woods hit a truck before ending up, uninjured, with his car on its side.
“I’m going to ask you to stay here with us,” says an officer. “Yes, I was on the phone with the president,” Woods replies, already out of his vehicle, who is then surprised by his arrest for “driving under the influence,” to which he pleaded not guilty on Tuesday.
Trump, a “very close friend”
Woods, a golf superstar with 15 major titles, had a negative alcohol test but refused to take a urine test, and was in possession of pain medications during his arrest. He was released eight hours later. Involved in several road accidents in recent years, he announced on Tuesday that he would “step back” from golf to “undergo treatment.”
The video does not confirm which “president” Woods was referring to. The golfer has been seen with Donald Trump, who himself stated on Friday that the golf star was a “very close friend.”
The former world No. 1 has not competed since July 2024. A year ago, he underwent surgery for a left Achilles tendon rupture, casting doubts on the future of his career, marked by injuries and surgeries.
