The Treasury announced on Thursday, March 26, that Donald Trump’s signature will appear on American banknotes. This is a first for a sitting president.

The love story between Donald Trump and symbols continues. The signature of the American president will soon be featured on American banknotes, the Treasury announced, according to RTL. “There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald Trump than with dollar bills bearing his name,” justified Finance Minister Scott Bessent, quoted in the statement.

This is the first time a sitting president of the United States has received this honor. The first $100 bills with his new signature will be printed starting June 2026, before a technique is then used for other bills, as specified in the government statement. Since 1861, the only signature present on greenbacks is that of the American Secretary of the Treasury and the Treasurer of the United States.

With this decision, the occupant of the White House once again marks his presence on a symbol of the United States. Last March 19, all members of a federal commission of fine arts, appointed by Donald Trump, agreed to strike a commemorative gold coin with the president’s effigy. However, the country’s laws prohibit the image of a sitting or living president on currency, as noted by 20 Minutes.

But that’s not all. The occupant of the White House has also renamed the Kennedy Center, considered a prestigious cultural institution in Washington, the Palm Beach International Airport in Florida, his Arc de Triomphe, the ballroom at the White House, and even a class of warships.
