The director of the US Political and Geostrategic Observatory, Romuald Sciora, points out a major contradiction in American strategy regarding this conflict: “Why negotiate for them to stop their nuclear program if we have destroyed it? […] all of this is clearly theater,” he said in an interview with LCN on Wednesday.
According to this researcher associated with IRIS, Washington is primarily seeking an exit strategy.
“The United States is looking for an exit strategy […] Trump is getting away with it by saying, look, we have achieved all our objectives,” he argued.
He goes further in his analysis: “The United States did not win this war, if anything, they lost it and today, they are trying to get out of it with their heads held high.”
On the domestic front, the political repercussions could remain limited in the short term. Despite a recent Democratic victory in Florida, Mr. Sciora tempers his remarks: “We do not see this as the end of Donald Trump.”
