Three shots fired at the home of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky: the main suspect pleads not guilty
“Not guilty.” Heard on Wednesday, March 25 in a hearing regarding the shots fired at the house of singer Rihanna and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, the main suspect pleaded not guilty to attempted murder. In early March, 35-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz had been arrested for opening fire on the star’s villa, where she lives with her partner and their three children.
“Many lives put in danger”
According to authorities, the singer of “Umbrella” and her partner were in a caravan on their large property when the suspect opened fire. Rihanna told the police she heard several gunshots. She then opened the curtains and saw several bullet impacts on the windshield where she was standing.
She then recounted pulling A$AP Rocky from bed and telling him they were being targeted. They then dropped to the floor, before rushing inside the house to make sure their three children and employees were safe. Police reported that about twenty shots were fired. Apart from the caravan, the bullets hit the terrace and a child’s bedroom wall. Bullet impacts were also found on a neighboring property.
Prosecutor Alexander Bott stated that “many lives were endangered” during these shots, and that the suspect, arrested in a vehicle wearing a wig, behaved in a “very dangerous way.” A Facebook page seemingly belonging to her includes several videos and posts referring to celebrities such as Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, and Cardi B.
In one of her posts, she challenges Rihanna to “say something directly instead of talking behind my back as if I wasn’t there.” In another video, she claims the singer wants to kill her. Her next court appearance is set for April 8, and her bail is set at $1.875 million. If convicted, she faces life in prison.
