Tehran taunts Washington: US negotiating with themselves

A spokesperson for the Iranian military has strongly criticized Washington, stating that the United States is “negotiating with themselves,” as reported by state media. This statement comes after President Donald Trump’s assertions that Tehran wanted to reach an agreement to end the war in the Middle East.

According to reports from numerous media outlets, the American administration has allegedly developed a 15-point plan to end the conflict, which was transmitted to Iranian authorities. However, from Tehran’s perspective, the tone is far from conciliatory. Ebrahim Zolfaqari, the spokesperson for the central Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters, dismissed American initiatives, referring to an “internal struggle” in Washington and claiming that a compromise between the two sides was impossible in the current state.

During the same address, the military official also warned against any expectation of a return to normalcy in terms of the economy. He stated that American investments and pre-war energy price levels could not be restored until the United States acknowledged that regional stability relies on the Iranian armed forces.

These statements highlight the persistent divide between the two countries, even as diplomatic initiatives are rumored behind the scenes to try to end hostilities.
