In Ohio, a man won a whopping $3.5 million after playing the same numbers in the Classic Lotto for the past twenty-two years.
Persistence can pay off sometimes. That’s what a resident of Akron, Ohio did for 22 years. Every month, he spent $10 playing the exact same numbers in the lottery. This determination finally paid off when he hit the jackpot of $3.5 million, as announced by the Ohio Lottery in a mid-February press release.
The man, who describes himself as “stubborn,” played the following number combination: 6-8-16-20-26-45. This became a true obsession, involving his best friend who was entrusted to buy tickets when he was away. The lucky winner is someone who prefers spending the winter in the sun.
On February 4th, the day of the draw, the man didn’t need to check if the numbers, which he obviously knew by heart, were correct. “We’re going to win the jackpot!” he told his wife before taking a flight home to find his precious ticket. Now officially retired, he plans to buy a house, set up a home gym, and a large promised pool for his wife, as highlighted on the Ohio Lottery website.
He’s not the only big winner in this story. The MAPCO gas station where the ticket was purchased will receive a prize of $1,000. On March 16th, an Australian also pocketed $1 million after playing the same numbers for eighteen years, as reported by 20 Minutes.
