An explosion occurred outside the US embassy in Oslo on Saturday night, according to Norwegian police. There were no casualties reported. The explosion took place around 1 am local time, with the police not yet having information on its cause. The blast hit the entrance to the consulate section of the embassy, as confirmed by Police Commander Michael Dellemyr. The extent of the damage is described as minor, but no further details were provided due to the early stage of the investigation.

Investigators are questioning witnesses, and a bomb disposal team is on-site, while a large part of the neighborhood around the embassy has been cordoned off. A 16-year-old resident named Edvard revealed that he heard the explosion while watching TV and saw police lights flashing outside his window shortly after.

American embassies in the Middle East have been placed on high alert due to US military operations in Iran, leading to some being targeted by attacks. However, Norwegian police have not linked the Oslo incident to the conflict in the Middle East, emphasizing that it is too early to make such connections.
