U.S. WTI crude oil up over 5%
Oil prices rebounded on Thursday due to doubts about the strength of the ceasefire between Iran and the United States and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. Around 1 PM, the price of a barrel of North Sea Brent for June delivery rose 3.85% to $98.40. Its American counterpart, the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) barrel for May delivery, gained 5.05% to $99.18.
Iranian delegation to Pakistan for talks
An Iranian delegation will arrive in Pakistan Thursday evening for talks with the United States, said Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam. The American military will remain near Iran until the full implementation of a “real agreement”, President Donald Trump declared Wednesday night following a fragile two-week ceasefire announcement between the United States and Iran.
Paris deems toll in Strait of Hormuz “unacceptable”
Establishing a toll mechanism in the Strait of Hormuz would be “unacceptable,” stated French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot on France Inter Thursday, after Donald Trump suggested creating a joint company to manage navigation in the strait with payment. “Freedom of navigation in international waters is a common good,” emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Air France extends suspension of Middle East flights
Air France is extending the suspension of its flights to the Middle East until May 3. “Due to the security situation at the destinations and the closure of airspace to commercial flights, the company is forced to extend the suspension of its flights: to/from Tel Aviv, Beirut, Dubai, and Riyadh until May 3, 2026 (or May 4, 2026 for flights departing from Dubai),” detailed Air France.
Income tax campaign is underway
As is customary every spring: French citizens can submit their income tax return starting Thursday until early June, amidst discussions on taxing high net worth individuals. The 2025 income tax return can be submitted online until June 4 at the latest depending on their place of residence. Paper returns must be filed by May 19 at the latest.
Results
Intersport France saw a slight increase in revenue in 2025, by 1% to €3.91 billion.
TAP Air Portugal reported a profit of €4.1 million in 2025, down more than 92% from the previous year.
