However, the cashier made a mistake and gave him a $10 ticket ($8.60).
Instead of informing the employee of his mistake, the man decided to keep it and put it in his pocket. That evening, he tried his luck and scratched it. “To his great surprise, he found that he had the ten correct numbers. When he announced it to his wife, she didn’t believe him. Even after noticing the congratulations message on the ticket, they were still amazed,” the Ohio lottery said in an official statement.
The player showed great luck. Thanks to the $10 ticket, he won the jackpot. This wouldn’t have been the case with the other tickets. “If he had bought the $1 and $5 tickets as planned, he would have only won 10% or 50% of the jackpot, respectively,” explained the lottery. After state and federal taxes deductions, he will receive $116,163.51 ($100,000).
This handsome sum will allow him to fulfill some dreams. The winner has already announced that he wants to pay some bills, invest, and make donations to his grandsons.
