Los Angeles’s massive fires in January 2025 are still fresh in everyone’s minds. Just over a year later, California finds itself once again exposed to this disaster. A fire has indeed broken out in Moreno Valley, a locality located in the south of this American state.

Driven by 80 km/h gusts of wind, the phenomenon quickly escalated, forcing authorities to evacuate certain neighborhoods in Riverside County.

Over 1,600 Hectares Affected

According to authorities, the fire started on Friday around 7 p.m. (Paris time) to the east of Moreno Valley and spread over more than 1,600 hectares, according to a report released on Saturday morning.

Rescue teams were working to contain the fire, while evacuation orders remained in effect for the affected areas, authorities said. Two helicopters, 36 fire trucks, about 260 firefighters were deployed to fight the fire, along with water bombers.

Another fire also broke out on Friday in Los Angeles County, engulfing about a hundred hectares.
